As we've seen before, some Thais still prefer more traditional methods of recruitment. While walking around my neighbourhood the other day, I saw this unusual job poster and thought I'd share it with you. We'll go over the translation too, hopefully allowing you to pick up some new words in the process.
Translation
The words and sentences used here are actually pretty simple and most intermediate Thai learners should pick up on them quite quickly. For your information though, here is the text in a more traditional Thai font.
รับสมัคร
rap sa-mak
Open for applications
พนักงานอาบนวด
pa-nak-ngaan aap nuuat
Masseuses
ถ้าคุณ..อยากทำงาน
taa kun... yaaak tam-ngaan
If you... want to work
มีรถใหม่
mii rot maai
And have a new car
แวะมาได้เลย..!!
wae maa daai leuy
Come visit us!
WORK FOR CAR
3 เดือน ออกรถใหม่
3 deeuan awk rot maai
After 3 months, receive your new car.
3 ปี โอนเป็นเจ้าของ
3 bpii oon bpen jao-kawng
After 3 years, we will transfer ownership.
Vocabulary
Although this is a simple text, there are a few new words that we'll go over here.
รับ (rap): to receive
สมัคร (sa-mak): to apply
พนักงาน (pa-nak-ngaan): staff, employee
อาบ (aap): to bathe
นวด (nuuat): to massage
ถ้า (taa): if
แวะ (wae): to visit
เดือน (deeuan): month
ปี (bpii): year
โอน (oon): to transfer
เจ้าของ (jao-kawng): owner
